norway_spiral

A mysterious light display appearing over Norway last night has left thousands of residents in the north of the country baffled.

Witnesses from Trøndelag to Finnmark compared the amazing sight to anything from a Russian rocket to a meteor or a shock wave – although no one appears to have mentioned UFOs yet.

The phenomenon began when what appeared to be a blue light seemed to soar up from behind a mountain. It stopped mid-air, then began to circulate.

Pretty crazy huh? So far Im leaning towards the russian missile explanation but I honestly havent a clue. What do you guys think?

They’ll just explain it away as being a missile test, swamp gas, or a weather balloon.

  2. eppic says:

I thought a few minutes about what it could be… and I have absoluteley no idea! :-P There are some many things it could be… Most likely its was some gas, but who knows…

The russian missile theorie: Is the vortex not a little bit too big for a missile? And why didnt the russians remote destruct the missile if it was out of conrol?

  3. ayden says:

The thing that makes me so unsure is how perfectly symmetrical it is. Even in the videos you can see how perfect the spiral is. Pretty impressive whatever it is.

  4. Sport11 says:

Unlike others, unless I knew what I was talking about I’d just take a guess. And since I don’t know I’m going to go along with the beautiful gal, Ayden. The russian missile.

Hey Ayden. Did you happen to read my comment under Riding Ariel Rebel, about posting a bigger picture of the little one by the Rss Feed to the right. Let me know if you don’t want to.

  6. Box of Rocks says:

Since I have no idea Im going with the idea that its a kid in Norway with a lazer light atop a windmill. :D

    Must say Iam impressed!

That’s plasma trapped in the Earth’s magnetic field. They’re so far North, it can reach the atmosphere. It’s the same basic phenomenon that causes the Aurora Borealis. It’s just a more localized event. That means the plasma probably didn’t come from the Sun, but from somewhere else.

I presume your referring to the Van Allen Belts? In which case I’d say its unlikely, especially at that altitude.

If I were to hazard a guess I’d say its a missile with an imbalanced propulsion system, its either spinning in an off centered axis due to a failure propulsion system, or its chasing its own tail, its hard to tell because the video is dark and its difficult to gauge the scale.

And the reason the missile probably wasn’t destroyed remotely is that it contains no warhead so unless it falls on someone it presents little danger, and also because the Russians would want to collect as much telemetry from it as they could to find out why it failed.

So to recap I’ve managed to talk about propulsion and telemetry on the blog of this outrageously sexy girl, is there really no limit to my nerdishness. :D

Wow that is pretty crazy… I don’t really know what to think of it :)

Glad to see you post two days in a row! :)

It’s armageddon! 2012 is a lie, it’s RIGHT NOW!! Save your children, your women, your porn collections, for the end is nigh at hand! The dinosaurs are coming back! Oh, woe!

OR… it could be a camera lens artifact? OR… someone somebody recreating Nikola Tesla’s ray beam that blew apart Tunguska, Russia in 1908!!

Mystery solved, Ayden! You can thank your friendly neighborhood Canadian for saving your life!

Ayden, as it turns out you were absolutely right. A russian missile gone astray. I heard it on the news this morning. So for those of you who thought you knew, Ayden was right.

    • eppic says:

Yep, I just read it on Google news. “Within a day however, the truth was out: fired from a nuclear submarine, the missile had exploded shortly after launch. It was the seventh failure in 12 test launches.”
But I still wonder, how a exploding missile can make such a perfectly shaped light spiral!

      • Box of Rocks says:

        Good call Ayden

Do you think you could help me with the Lottery or maybe do a little psychic reading? I’ll share my fortune with you! :D

I fuckin’ know what it is but I’m supposed to keep the secret (wtf I’ll be dead anyway)
there always are many theories but how do you really think dinosaurs disappeared? it all began with a rare phenomena. you know in the maian calandar earth ends in 2012, in what seems to be the egyptian calendar earth ends in 2045 and in the polution calendar earth ends in 2064
    place your bet.
